Water water everwhere

Where was i last time i was writing this ? i cant quite remember i know it was somwhere remote. but any way since then io have made my way to the okavango delta (which was absolutely amazing) saw some lions whilst out walking and almost got charged by an elephant lots of birds, also the wildlife was amazing. one night got an amazing thunderstorm. the only down side is that i found a leach attached to my chin.

after that we made our way to chobe and then to the vic falls (Zimbabwe) where i tryed my hand at white water rafting (ace) and then microlighting (v scary for the first 5 mins) am now on the zambian side depite almost losing my passport at the border. the current plan is to head to lusaka and sort out a number of visas and then get to vanziba as quikly as posible?

last days of Nam

well Cat should be safley back in the UK by now, mean while i have gone back to the namibian wilderness. This time with Nomad overlanding tours. the first step was to get a bus to swakopmund which should in theory be quite easy, and in deed it was untill we got to a police cheekpoint and it turned out that the bus driver didn't have a driving licence and so he was propmtly aressted leaving his 14 passangers stranded at a police station uin the middle of the dessert. The only solution it seemed would be to hitch luckilly i got a lift with a lorry driver, un lukilly he had never been to namibia before and relied on me to navigate, lukkily i got us there.
so then i joined the tour that will end up getting me to VIc falls by the end of january, and take in the highlights of northern namibia including a return visit to Etosha NP, however it was just as well i had gone up there with cat as in the mean time the rains had came meaning that there was no need for most of the animals to come out of hiding, also i had managed to break my camera, and the truck broke down so it wasn't to much of a sucessfull trip the rest of the time the tour is good, it seems to be dominated by koreans don't quite know why but it is quite intersting any way one of them (mr Kim) is writing a book so hopfully my fame should reach korea in some small way. i am of to the okavango delta tommorrow, which i am really looking forward to.
Currently i am in a town called Rundu Right on the angolan border. on the way here we passed an animal desease control point, which is part of a fence accross the entirety of northern namibia, this line (known as the red line) apparently divides the first and the third world and the change was both noticable and imeadiate gone was the ranch style farms in where the tradititional style huts, another noticable change is that there are acctually people up here as well.
any how i'm off for a swim accross to angola without my passport wish me luck.

etosha

so after the busy city of swokopmund we headed back out in to the namibian countrys side to etosha national park and went on quite a few game drives got really close to a pride of lions and some giraffes but no elephants or leopards. Over night i casually left my shoes out side the back of my tent, and on one partictular night one of my shoes went missing, on that same night (and i dont want to point any fingers) there where jackels all over the campsite, and we all know what dogs are like with smelly shoes don't we.

oh and it was my sisters birthday yesterday so happy birthday.

oh and i have decided that i am going to write a book about my affricain adventures the profits from which will be donated to a charity dedicated to restoring a forest. the scheame will then become so famous that i will have my own reality tv program and become a rich and famous travel personallity like a sort of cross between michael palin and jimmy savile.

car hire fokers

sorry for the obsenity but they deserve it. so we hired a car to do a trip around namibia it came with 200 km a day milage (why is it still called milage) all well and good but we may have gone over that limit a little bit (maybe by about 1600km) so to get the cost dow in woulod be cheaper to pay for extra days but return it on the same day which apparently can't be done and so we would have to pay the extra milage cost. this was of course untill i pointed out to the guy that it would therfore work out cheaper for me if the car where to get stolen and i just pay the insurance excess. The talk of accidentally"losing the car must have scared him a bit as the manager came out and after a while we came to a deal where by the car would remain unstolen and she would give us some extra free miles.

Flip Flops

Ok sao this is an example of how mad my insanity has gone. standing in a bar in the middle of the german red neck belt of namibia and i am standing in a bar playing Namiobian Pool With Cat, and i think it is perfectly accseptable for me to be wearing shorts, vest, base ball cap and Imbarasingly enough Flip Flops. i may as well just admit it its apparently the first step to recovery.

Any way namibian Pool is fairly simmilar to British pool exept that as you are in the middle of a desert and have a strong light source all of the local insect decide to come and join in the game giving an interesting twist to the line of the shot.

Namibia

Well let me sum up the country before i get to the details, THERE IS NOTHING HERE absoultely nothing and nobody, no public transport and nobody to use it.

Take walvis bay there are people building houses in this quiet little sleepy town but there doesnt seem to be any one to live in the houses, Swokopmund "the Adrenaline Capital" seems to be short a few cans of red bull.

Still Myself and cat did venture out in to the central namib desert for some wild camping thats right we went in to the most wilderness area i have ever seen and camped there overnight, it was reall cool thogh amazing sunset and stars.

on the way there we had went to Namibias Number One tourist attraction (which was deserted) Soussviel dunes, they where pretty impressive and so we went for a bit of a play. and then off we headed north in to the desert, where we passed maybe two or three other cars in over 150 km. one of these cars went charging off the road, leading its path by a couple of metres was its rear tyre, the back axel of the vehical had decided it had had enough of the desert roads, so we offered to givr one of the guys a lift he lead us to the park offices had a quick chat with a local and went away with a random vehical it almost seamed above board but as he spoke no english i couldent be sure.

off up north over the next couple of days back to the wilderness and etosher so i may be out of contact a bit.

new year

So New years Eve went very well, i was on top form and every girl in the building wanted a peice of me. Well at least that was what i was telling my self, still it is a bit strange being so hot on new years day, spent the whole day recovering. And that is probebly all it prudent to say on the internet.
