Words

Just thought i'd share the words i used when i spoke at my dads funeral.

"
When my 7 yr old nephew found out about what had happened he came up with the following analogy “Its like there’s not going to be another Beano Ever” to me this summed up what Len could mean to people and the influence he could have on people lives no matter who you where what age you where or what walk of life you came from Len had time for them all. He would just be himself and that would be enough to have a positive effect on all around him. He had the ability to talk to people gain an understanding of them and who they where by just a simple conversation. Len touched every one he met and was able give voice to those who needed one, help people who needed helping and galvanize ideas in to reality.
Most of all Len was always true to himself and didn’t waste any time disliking something, I don’t think I ever remember Len having a real dislike for anyone, well except Maggie Thatcher.
He always had his own way of doing things and it was not always obvious why he was doing things that way, for instance why he cutting the slice for cake that way or why he was taking the M25 when a 2 minute journey would suffice. It may not have been the most obvious of methods but it always worked.
He always did what he enjoyed and always got passionate about the things he stood for. He really saw the value in people and the community around him and would love anything that brings people together. It is a testament to him and his beliefs that all of you people are here today and I am sure that each and every one of you can all come up with your own little story of how Len lived his life.
Whilst you can still do this, whilst there are people around that Len touched and whilst they still remember the things he did, he will continue to have an influence and in that way the things he stood for and the things he loved will keep his spirit alive for many years to come. So I thank you all for coming and ask for you to remember him fondly and warmly, thank you.

World Cup Flags

Down here in London it appears that everyone has gone compleately Flag crazy every car that passes has a flag on it most every House has a flag on it and every item of clothing have flags on them. Its not just England Flags though i've seen a fair number of Polish flags a lot of angolan and Ghanain flags even some Saudi Flags. Basicly every nation currently in the world cup has a representative set of flags somewhere in London. Its quite nice really and goes some way to demonstrating the diversity of london and how we can actually all get along fairly well.

But as with everthing else society seems to have one exception. I have not seen one single USA flag up in london any where. USA actually have quite a good football team and there are quite a number of americains in London. So why no flags Maybey it just not there sport, maybe they dont make the flaghs over here. But i wonder if its somthing else, personally whilst i find it nice and refreshing when all these other nations flags are openly displayed if i saw the stars and stripes my mind would imiediately wander to americain imperiallisam and to the way that the usa's global image is tarnished with the image of dumb stupid americains. now i'm not saying that americains are stupid just that that is what i think of when ai see the stars and stripes. Its a bit like how the right wing bastards have high jacked the Union jack and thus the flag becomes associated with beliefs not worthey of this country, could simmilar be happening with the stars and stripes and therefore it just causes too much hassle for americains to demonstrait a level of support for there national team.

World Cup

5 minutes left of the Italy Ghana match and their 2-0 down not exactly the result i was hoping for i really cant see them getting any goals now. They just don't seem to have any sort of goal scoring ability, they play well but get no goals for it. Oh well the first bet has been lost.

Also doing this score guessing compertition with the guys from work and it seems that out of nine players i am in last place. the world cup is not working out well for me.

I had a thought whilst watching the match. If your a referee youd want to be reffereeing the big matches just like a top player wants to play in the world cup the refs must have the same incentives. So the ultimate aim must be the world cup final, so how gutted must you be if your a referee from Brazil, no matter how good you are you can always rely on not refereeing the final because of those bastards in yellow showing off there ball playing ability. Probebly a very simmilar situation to peter Crouch and Defoe how tempted must they have been to have accededtially step on Waynes Foot!

West Highland Way

Had the last two weeks off work on holiday in scotland spent the first week walking the west highland way. Great fun the first day was harsh but i soon found my stride and am deffinately now in good shape.

Spent the second week climbing some munroes near Kinlocleven and on Mull.

Mull is a very remote place lots of single track roads and isn't really comparribale to any where else i've been in th UK.

Thanks to the folks for providing ground support and a couple of decent meals and a mode of transport for the tertiary week.
